About
Daniel Stoeski
👋 Hi! I’m Daniel and welcome to “Adventures in Tech!”.
Ever since the early 1990s, when my dad brought home an IBM PS/2 486 running Windows 3.1, I’ve had a passion for all things tech.
In 2007, after spending many years as a professional student, I decided to take my passion and use it to earn a living working in tech.
I’ve worked at software companies, MSPs, and inhouse IT departments, primarly working in Support alongside a tenure as a Data Analyst.
My path to where I am now in my career was not the typical route.
I don’t have a degree in IT or Computer Science so everything I’ve learnt has been on the job, doing the job, and developing my professional skills with any and all training opportunities that came my way.
I’ve honed my Linux skills by tinkering with endless Linux distros and all the challenges (read: headaches) that come with it.
With a host of skills under my belt that I’ve picked up in my years of working in tech, I’ve decided to dive deep into cloud-native infrastructure—not just to keep pace with industry shifts, but to master the underlying philosophies of automation, self-hosting, and systems resilience.
I believe that the best way to understand the cloud is to build it yourself from the metal up. For me, tech isn’t just about spinning up disposable resources in a public cloud; it’s about digital stewardship—repurposing forgotten hardware, optimizing bare metal, and creating resilient, self-hosted ecosystems that challenge the throwaway tech culture.
So if you’ve stumbled across this little blog of mine, come follow me as as I build out my self-hosted “command center” and I further develop my understanding of and explore the world of containerization (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and the like.
